The Destroy Fund 2004

The Destroy Fund

A challenge to get out the vote!

Okay, I'm only going to say this once. Are you sick and tired of the Bush administration? Well, it's time to put your money where your mouth is. Jim Mason has started a challenge fund to raise money for the organizations listed below. These groups are doing the gruelling and crucial work that will make all the difference in this upcoming election: creating hard-hitting TV ads, registering democratic voters, driving people to the polls, and so on, in the swing states. They've done an amazing job so far, but they need our support.

Democratic National Committee
America Coming Together
America Votes
The Media Fund
The MoveOn Voter Fund
MoveOn PAC
Joint Victory Campaign 2004
Driving Votes
VoterDrive.com

Here's how it works:

  1. You give some money to one or more of the groups listed above.
  2. You send me an email telling me how much you gave.
(My address: cassidy at otherthings dot com).
  3. We give the same amount as you, until we reach the challenge level.
  4. (extra credit) if you want, you can also make a donation to raise the challenge level.
As of Tuesday, October 26th, at 11pm, the challenge level is now $10,150 from our challengers. People have now donated $8,209 on the matching side, so far. How much are you going to give?

Challenge Level Current Matching Amount Total Pledged/Donated
$10,150 $8,209 $18,359

The Destroy Fund is named after a recent machine performance art show at the Shipyard called How to Destroy the Universe. Jim Mason used the door money from that show as the first $1000 challenge grant that seeded this fundraising effort.
